Intro
Gerrit Reitveld is a famous Dutch furniture designer and architect. His iconic masterpiece is the Red and Blue Chair, which is influenced by the De Stijl and Bauhaus Movement. His minimalist and conceptual approach still deeply influences Dutch contemporary art and education including Gerrit Reitveld Academy, where Wei Ling completed her art education. In this performance, She appropriated his color elements on dismantled furniture pieces equipped with wheels. The pieces were constantly reassembled and broken apart during the performance. As the performer, She used the first person perspective to play and deconstruct the objects with a cold sense of humor, and in the dreamlike reinterpretation, blurred the entire space. Finally, She opened the wall and left. To Wei Ling, <RO> is both a tribute to Gerrit Reitveld's design and thinking, with a sense of playfulness, and a manifestation of herself, who is constantly deconstructing and reconstructing, establishing her own Manifest through the remnants, while circling in and out of the avant-garde confinement of the foreign white box.
